In
2006, I've ventured into a new photographic area, Airshows.
The interest in flying machinery has always been there
and in the past I've visited an arishow every now and
then. However, I lost somewhat interest after my good
friend, Albert Maes, passed away on 21 April 2001. He
was a display and aerobatic enthousiast, working, back
then, for the Belgian Air Force aerobatic team, The
Red Devils. While I was still a school boy, he showed
me the first steps in scale modeling and spray painting,
introduced me to the local scale modeling club and together
we spent many saturday afternoons working on some small
1/72nd scale projects.
But, when I read about the "Open Dagen Koninklijke
Luchtmacht 2006" in The Netherlands, and that the
famous US Navy Blue Angels were scheduled to perform,
I decided to give it a another go. The airshow was held
in Leeuwarden on 16 & 17 June and together with
some friends, we travelled there to see the saturday
flying program. The weather was absolutely great, so
an ideal opportunity to give it a photographic go. Since
then I try to visit a least one meeting or Spottersday
a year. So whenever there are new pictures available,
this page will be updated.
This page are a tribute the my friend, the late Albert
Maes (+). |
